Join TORKS

Before you fly at the Field

Every pilot needs these, whether a Member or not:

  1. AMA membership. The Academy of Model Aeronautics provides the liability insurance that TORKS and Oklahoma City require. You need it before you can join TORKS.
  2. The City Permit. Oklahoma City requires a Hefner Model Aircraft permit to fly at the Field. The fee goes to the City as part of the club’s lease. Apply online: scroll to the bottom of the page, tick “I have read and accepted the above terms”, choose Continue Application, and pick the Hefner Model Aircraft permit for your age.
  3. FAA registration and TRUST. R/C pilots also need a current FAA registration and proof of passing The Recreational UAS Safety Test (TRUST).

How to join

  1. Get your AMA membership.
  2. Fill in the membership application online, or print the mail-in form.
  3. Pay your Dues online with PayPal, or by check made out to TORKS and mailed with the form.
  4. An Officer checks your AMA membership, then you’ll get your TORKS membership card and the gate and locker codes.

Paying by mail? Send the form, your check and a stamped envelope addressed to yourself to:
